Responsible Breeders adhere to ethical practices and follow established breed guidelines and regulations. They prioritize the well-being of the dogs and puppies over financial gain and ensure that their breeding practices align with animal welfare principles. They provide accurate and honest information about the breed, its requirements, and potential health issues to prospective owners. Assessing the genetic traits of potential parent animals, analyzing pedigrees, avoiding inbreeding or genetic issues are the primary goals of the responsible breeder.
We, Lion’s Paw Kennel, are responsible breeders, producing happy, healthy and good-natured XL & XXL American Bully Breed dogs. We only breed the healthiest, most physically sound and behaviorally stable dogs. Lion’s Paw Kennel prioritizes health and function over appearance. We always screen for unwanted heritable traits, which may negatively impact the breed.
“Ethical breeding involves the use of healthy animals true to their species in behavior and physical appearance, and when applicable, showing a sustainable performance.”

We have taken the dog breeders oath:
“I will maintain high standards of health and care for my dogs and provide people with puppies that are healthy and free from parasites.”
By operating a responsible breeding program, Lion’s Paw Kennel interviews each potential adoption candidate for their knowledge of the breed, resources, commitment to the care of the Bully, and ability to provide a loving environment. We have a care and commitment contract (available upon request) which outlines owner responsibilities, our support agreement and if necessary, to take back a dog. We reserve the right to decline the sale of an ineligible prospect.
The health of your dog is paramount, and vaccinations are an essential part of preventative care. The breed and/or size of your beloved Bully does not take away from the importance of vaccines and fighting infectious diseases they may encounter. There are some highly contagious, untreatable diseases that can be completely avoided by consistently staying up to date with boosters and inoculations. We encourage the essential immunization schedule for a long-term health and a happy, long life.
In many states, there are types of pet businesses, such as doggie daycares, training facilities, groomers, or just playing in dog parks which may require current vaccinations. Airlines also will require proof prior to boarding.
Wellness exams offer the owner the ability of catching any health issues or problems early and supports your Bully’s overall health and well-being. Good dental hygiene and regular bathing is good practice. Flea and Tick prevention should be addressed when necessary.
Lion’s Paw Kennel is constantly updating ourselves and our systems with the latest procedures, practices and advancements in care, husbandry and genetics. We are dedicated to advancing the knowledge base of the American Bully Breed and raising awareness for this big hearted breed.
